Circus of Books

In 1976, once they answered an ad from the Los Angeles 33, Barry and Karen Mason had fallen on hard times and so were looking to support their youthful family. Larry Flynt was searching suppliers for Hustler Magazine. What was anticipated for a brief side line contributed to their becoming fully immersed in the community as they took within a local shop, Circus of all Books. Ten years after, they had become homosexual porn's biggest suppliers within the usa. The film focuses on the life that they led, attempting to keep up the balance of being parents at any given time when LGBT civilization was not yet accepted. Their many challenges included facing prison time to get a national obscenity prosecution and allowing their store for an area of refuge at the height of the AIDS crisis. Circus of Books provides a glimpse and it's told through the lense of the owners' personal daughter, Rachel Mason, an artist, filmmaker and musician.
